I (We) Done Good…So Far

Everybody wonders if they have left the right impression on their kids, molded themselves in the image of what they wish for them, praying that they turn out all right.

Paige is a success at all the things that Jenna did not soak up. This child is the most polite, conscientious kid. Says please almost every time. Hears the word “OW” and comes running, “Are you Ok daddy?”. Same goes for “bless you” when she hears a sneeze. Prays like three times per meal (she is headed for the convent!!!)

Jenna has her moments too. I tried to do something special for her today – we needed a bottle of Dr. Pepper for the pulled pork and I saw “Dr. Pepper with Cream Soda”…knowing that Jenna likes Cream Soda, I grabbed a bottle and surprised Jenna with it at dinner.

Unfortunately it did not really taste anything like Cream Soda. Jenna admitted as much: “It tastes a lot like Dr. Pepper and not so much like Cream Soda.” Maybe just a gimmick to get more curious minds to buy it…I was bummed because I thought Jenna would like it…but alas, then comes Jenna a moment later with some sympathy “actually daddy it does taste a lot like cream soda and I love it!”

Things like that tell you that you’ve done good with your kids. So far.
